1990 Charvel IMC Archtop Dinky, DKA-110-HH Trans Amber
I say it must be a Texas thing because this guitar was bought in Texas, sold in Texas and has now ended up in the slightly warm and sunny Florida Panhandle. So basically, an 800 mile trip to reappear again, but man, we were happy to score this beauty. Every inch of this archtop Dinky displays early-'90s Japanese craftsmanship at its finest. If you're familiar with and a fan of this era of IMC Charvels, then you're in for a treat.
To start, this one is powered by a set of J50 and J80 humbuckers that have more than a little attitude. They are nice and balance and offer up more than a few tonal varieties. I just prefer the "Hell Yeah" setting of all out plugged straight into a VHT Pitbull 50. That gets the job done nicely.
The Sen Ash body leans heavily towards a Korina vibe and the Trans Amber finish is gorgeous over the body's woodgrain. I'm not sure if Charvel ever made a Korina guitar, but this is certainly close enough to satisfy your shredding fix.
This guitar has a very "upgraded" feel from your normal IMC Charvels with its inlays, black hardware and body color. There are some surface scratches on the rear tremolo cover and a couple of dings in the body, the most egregious being pictured. Overall, the guitar has been well care-for and performs like a professional-grade instrument. The non-original hardshell case has been cleaned and more than adequately protects the guitar.
