Description

Offered for your consideration is another awesome little Collings, an 002H 12-Fret with a Baked Sitka top which was built in 2019. If a short scale, 12-fret acoustic is on your wish list, please read on.

With a body that is just 19-3/8" long, 4" deep and 14-1/4" wide at the lower bout, this diminutive instrument is small in size but surprisingly big in the voice department. This 12-fret guitar has a 24 7/8" string scale, a 1.75" nut width and 2 3/16" string spacing. The top is Torrefied Sikta Spruce with Collings' Pre-war scalloped X bracing. The back and sides are lovely straight-grained East Indian Rosewood. The mahogany neck has Collings 'Modified V' carve. It has a slotted headstock with volute and side-mounted Waverly open-backs.

The guitar's short scale makes it very easy to play and it's 12-fret geometry positions the sound hole to make the most of the small body's output. It's an amazingly responsive and powerful little package with a full and balanced output. Please check out the brief sound sample provided. The baked Spruce top and the X bracing contribute to its rich and well balanced voice. It is setup perfectly with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the bass side and 4/64" on the treble side. Its small size makes it extremely comfortable to play and you will want to keep it close by your favorite chair.

This guitar is in great shape save for a few light and very hard to find cosmetic flaws which I've pictured. The frets look like new. It comes to you in a similarly mint Collings-branded case by TKL along with the original paperwork.

A new example of this guitar with the Torrified top and a very nice but far less expensive TKL case would cost you $6,900 plus a good long wait if ordered today. The torrefied top alone is a $500 ugrade. Alternatively, you can get this lightly played 2019 for more than a third less.

An extremely nice small scale instrument with a surprisingly big sonic punch! Make this lovely little Collings yours!
