Description

Offered is this lovely and virtually mint Collings 002H built in 2015. This model is based upon a guitar design which originated in the mid to late 1800's. It is a small body, short scale, 12-fret instrument with a neck width and string spacing which will appeal primarily to fingerstyle players, although it responds quite well to flatpicking.

This guitar has a body length of 19-3/8", a lower bout width of 14-1/4" and a body depth of 4". It has a scale length of 24-7/8" and a nut width of 1-13/16". The top is Sitka Spruce and the back and sides are East Indian Rosewood. It has upgraded Adirondack Spruce bracing. The fretboard, pyramid style bridge, the headstock overlay and the bridge and end pins are made of Ebony. The 12-fret Mahogany neck has Collings' Modified V shape with 2-5/16" string spacing. The Ebony fretboard has a 14"-26" compound radius with vintage style Abalone diamond and square inlays. It has a slotted headstock and the tuners are nickel Waverly side mounts.

The 002 produces a sound which is balanced, succinct and surprisingly loud given it's modest size. With it's small body size, short string scale and 12-fret geometry, it plays with superb ease. It is perfectly setup up with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side.

I do not use the term "mint" lightly, but the condition of this guitar is as about as close to mint as a previously-owned guitar can be. It shows no flaws of any significance and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's similarly mint Collings/TKL hardshell case. A new example of this instrument costs approximately $4,750 but this near mint 2015 example can be yours for far less.

The Collings 002H is a particularly desirable small body guitar. Hit the 'Buy Now' button and make this beauty yours!
