Offered is this fabulous 2013 Collings I-35 Deluxe in Blonde nitro lacquer. The Collings I-35 is a model that is among my personal favorites and one that I never hesitate to invest in for our inventory. It's meant to be an alternative to the venerable Gibson ES-335. In my opinion, however, the I-35 is better than the guitar it emulates.
This version of the I-35 has a solid (not laminated) carved and flamed Maple top with binding. The neck is Collings' medium/fat C-shape, measuring .875" at the first fret, increasing to .985" at the twelfth fret. The fretboard is made from Madagascar Rosewood with parallelogram inlays and binding. The bone nut has a width of 1-11/16", the fretboard radius is 12" and the guitar weighs just 7.2 lbs. The electronics include Lollar Low Wind humbuckers with a traditional 50's style wiring setup (2 vol/2 tone/3 way). The bridge and tailpiece are nickel-plated TonePros.
The build quality, playability and tone of this guitar is amazing. While many builders make a 335-style guitar, this is perhaps the best of all, regardless of price. It sounds very similar to an ES-335, but plays oh so much better and there is no comparing the build quality!
This superb instrument is in near mint condition, with little to no evidence of play, frets included. It has no flaws of any significance. Included is the original Collings/Ameritage case and paperwork.
A new example of this guitar will cost you well over $6K. This near mint example with an upgraded Madagascar Rosewood fretboard and inlays can be yours for substantially less. Do yourself a huge favor and try a Collings I-35. You will be very glad you did!
