Description

Offered is another Collings I-35LC for your consideration, this one a Deluxe model built in 2016. You will see various iterations of the Collings I-35, I-30 and Soco models in our inventory quite often. We invest in these models whenever we can for one simple reason - this is the best line of hollow and semi-hollow electric guitars currently being made.

Being an 'LC' model I-35 this instrument has a laminated Maple body, which many players prefer because it is said that wood laminations resists feedback a bit better than solid wood and has a more focused tone. This beauty is finished in Faded Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer and has a total weight of just 6 pounds, 15 ounces. The neck is made of Mahogany. It has a 24-7/8" string scale, a medium/fat C-shape with depth measurements of .855" at the first fret and .975" at the twelfth fret. The Indian Rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, a 1-11/16" nut, medium frets and ivoroid binding. The electronics consist of upgraded ThroBak SLE-101 Plus humbuckers, 500K pots, Jupiter caps and a 50's style wiring setups. The bridge and tailpiece are from TonePros and the tuners are Gotohs with ivoroid buttons. Being a 'Deluxe' model, this beauty gets a host of cosmetic upgrades including ivoroid controls and binding. This guitar was further upgraded with black/white top purfling, parallelogram fingerboard inlays, the ThroBak pickups, parallelogram headstock inlay and 3-ply pickguard and truss rod cover.

Play this guitar and you recognize that it is based on the ES formula, but has been built with a precision and consistency that Gibson has been unable to match. Like virtually all the guitars Collings builds, this I-35 feels like it was carved from a single piece of wood. The playability is worthy of a guitar costing far more. The tone is superb - please check out the brief sound sample provided. Many players feel that the ThroBak pickups on this guitar are the finest currently available.

From a foot away, this guitar looks like it is in mint condition. Upon very close inspection, and under intense lighting however, you will find a few flaws, including some tiny impressions on the back, a couple more near the controls and some pick scratching on the pickguard (see the provided close-up photos). These cosmetic-only issues aside, this guitar is in superb condtion and the frets are in great shape. The original hardshell case and paperwork are included.

A new example of this guitar with these options will cost you approximately $6,800. Get this 2016 beauty for more than $2G less. For many players, the Collings I-35 is a guitar that beats the Gibson ES series at it's own game. Make this beauty yours today!
