THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PROTOTYPE BY AN IMPORTANT NEW ENGLAND BUILDER!
ON SALE! WAS $1,800.00
Dan Neafsey hand made (pre DGN Guitars) proto type guitar.
This is a one of a kind guitar that has not yet gone into production, completely hand made by Mr. Neafsey probably between 2006-07 in Fairfield, Connecticut. She is a unique hollow body, wide and sexy, Les Paul shape made entirely from solid woods. Top is hand carved solid flamed maple ¾” thick (you can you can see the faint whittle marks in reflected light.). Her back and neck are made of Bubinga (African Rosewood) with an Brazilian rosewood fret-board and natural abalone inlays. She is highlighted with cream body binding and matching truss rod cover. Gold plated hardware, Bartolini Humbuckers (gold finish fading on pickup covers), jumbo frets and Waverly tuners top her off. She feels, handles and plays a lot like a 50’s guitar with a comfortable thick neck and a full scale length of 25 inches.
I have a lengthy email correspondence, dated July 7, 2008, between Mr. Neasfey and the first owner of this guitar (That I will pass along with the guitar.) in which Neafsey says:
“It is in fact a one of a kind proto type that may be duplicated some day. It was made under the name - Neafsey Handcrafted Musical Instruments. It is very early and is guitar number 009 out of 27 guitars I have built so far.”
Neafsey also goes on to explain the control layout for the varitone switch which produces a very wide range of tones:
“1. Bypass tone, just volumes.
2. Normal guitar vol. and tone.
3. Bypass tone and insert cap value.
4. Bypass tone deeper cap value.
5. Bypass tone even deeper cap value.
6. Coil tap, bypass tone, just volume.”
Note: This guitar is well built and the aesthetics are well thought out. There is no removable cover plate on the back of the guitar that would take away from its beautiful flowing form and the beautiful grain of the wood. The electronics are accessed through the bridge pickup opening.
This guitar will work well for virtually any type of music and is especially outstanding for blues and jazz.

Because of the delicate nature of electronics and the possibility of parts swapping, all electric guitars are sold as is. I am not one of those people who makes it a habit of dissecting their guitars and photographing their guts: Only in a rare occasion, if the guitar merits it.
