Retrofret Stock # 4146. Silvertone Model 1452 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar, made by Danelectro, c. 1967-8, made in Neptune, NJ, serial # 185.14529, sunburst lacquer finish, black soft shell case. The final series of Sears "Amp-in-case" guitars by Danelectro were these somewhat Fender-esque solidbodies; close cousins of the New Jersey company's more upscale Coral line. This Silvertone two-pickup vibrato guitar is a simple, efficient, and great-sounding design, less fancy than the Coral Hornet it generally resembles but with just as potent a sting! The red/black sunburst body carries a white-topped masonite pickguard with two lipstick pickups, 3-way switch, and individual volume and tone controls. The bridge is the typical Danelectro plate style but with a concealed vibrato underneath. The chunky black-finished neck has a single sided headstock with "skate key" tuners and a "Silvertone" logo. These guitars were among the last Danelectros made, shortly before new owner entertainment conglomerate MCA inexplicably folded the company in 1969. This is a fine player with the typically crisp Danelectro sound mated to a solid body; a little screamer of a guitar, and a fine, affordable vintage piece.Overall length is 39 7/8 in. (101.3 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). All original (except strap buttons replaced) including the oft-missing vibrato arm; numerous edge dings but overall a nice and fine-playing example. Excellent Condition.
