Description

Here’s an exceptional 1958 D’Angelico Excel in its original Sunburst finish for your viewing pleasure! This one comes to us from the guitar’s second owner, and is marked in D’Angelico records as a “Special New Yorker” despite “Excel” on the headstock. D’Angelico’s were made custom for notable players of the time, and this instrument is no exception having been specially made for guitarist Robert Miranda, who used it alongside musical legends such as Tony Bennett, Nina Simone, and Vick Damone. This particular D’Angelico has aged impeccably well, with hardly any wear throughout the original Sunburst finish. The spruce top and insanely flamed maple back and sides really elevate both the appearance and rich sound of this piece that needs to be heard to be believed! The pickguard is a replacement made by luthier John Monteleone that supports the input jack for the added D’Armond pickup, and the guitar had an eyelet installed as a strap button.

Overall Condition: 9, very light playwear
