Description

Offered is this extremely cool '69 Tele Thinline style instrument by Dan Strain of Danaocaster. This was an early effort by Dan (body date of May, 2010), who was kind enough to confirm the guitar as one he built and supplied me with some photos of this very instrument from his archive.

This guitar has a semi-hollow Ash body with an aged black lacquer finish. The guitar has a total weight of just 6 pounds, 7 ounces. The Maple neck has a nice chunky C-shape with depth measurements of .89" at the first fret and .950" at the twelfth fret. It has a 9.5" radius round lam rosewood fretboard which Dan tells me is quite a rarity for his builds. The frets are nice meaty medium/jumbos like you would find on a Gibson. The electronics include vintage output Lollar single coils with modern Tele controls and wiring. The bridge, tuners and neckplate are Fender stock. The original cup-style input jack was replaced somewhere along the line. Otherwise, the guitar appears completely original.

I love Tele Thinline guitars so I snapped this up for our inventory. Play this sweetheart and it is easily mistaken for a well-played example of a real '69 Thinline, albeit one with a nicely shaped neck and bigger frets. It plays like butter and the tone is perfect! Check out the provided sound sample and I trust you will agree.

This guitar remains in fine shape although it is difficult to determine where the factory aging ends and the play wear begins. The relatively heavy frets are in excellent condition with no divots and years of life remaining. The guitar comes in a nice Fender/G&G black tolex case with an ashtray bridge cover.

This is a great early guitar by Dan. As Thinline Teles go, it is tough to beat. Make it yours and it will quickly become your number one. Very nice indeed!
