1965 D'Aquisto Excel in sunburst
This is the fifth guitar made by James L. D'Aquisto and is an intriguing and significant part of the D'Aquisto story as noted on page 93 of Paul Schmidt's "Acquired of the Angels".
Interestingly, it is parallel braced with a Gibson scale of 24 3/4 and zero fret.
While the look of this early instrument is that of an exact copy of the guitars Jimmy had been making along side his mentor John D'Angelico just a year earlier before D'Angelicos passing, the voice of the guitar gives hints to D'Aquisto's own path and the sound his instruments would find in the 80's and early 90's.
So it can only be said that the guitar has an absolutely incredible voice with flawless playability.
The guitar is completely original with the exception of a Mirabella reproduction pickguard and pearl trussrod cover..
