Offered here is one half of an amazing pair of incredible DeTemple custom guitars built for Kirk Hammett, guitarist with the metal band Metallica, in 2009. DeTemple built Kirk this '52 (T-style) and a matching '56 (S-style) both of which Capital Guitars is proud to offer for sale. Is life good or what!?
In building guitars for a rock icon, Michael DeTemple has given both of these instruments the very best he has to offer. This fabulous DeTemple '52 has: an ultra-light swamp ash body (7.2 pounds total guitar weight) finished in black nitrocellulose lacquer; a one-piece, highly flamed maple neck with a C shape carve and a depth of .890" at the first fret and .950" at the twelfth fret; a fretboard made of 100 year old Brazilian rosewood with a 10" radius, medium/jumbo frets and a 1.6875" nut made from fossilized mastodon ivory; a vintage T-syle bridge with titanium compensated saddles and string ferrules; custom open back tuners; a titanium neck plate; a string tree and switch tip made of fossilized mastodon ivory; DeTemple's custom Italian celluloid pickguard; and for electronics, DeTemple "Sweet Spot" T-series single coils, a three-way switch, volume and tone controls. To protect this irreplaceable instrument in the event of theft, a SNAGG microchip was imbedded in the guitar during construction.
This guitar has got to be one of the finest Tele-style guitars available anywhere. As a DeTemple, it plays like boutique "butta" and sounds good enough to eat too! The DeTemple Sweetspot pickups give this guitar a voice that is true Tele, but with a tone that is much more complex.
As it's sister '56, this guitar shows little evidence of play. It is in near mint condition and the frets are spotless. It comes with it's original DeTemple G&G case, truss rod tool, fretboard protector and SNAGG registration form.

Once we receive your cleared payment we will contact you with tracking information and a paid invoice. That is all there is to it! Shipments to locations within the State of New York are subject to imposition of applicable New York Sales taxes. Trade proposals involving quality gear are welcomed! Shipping to Continental US addresses is via FedEx Ground, with flat rate shipping of $60 to Eastern time zones, $70 Central and $80 Mountain/Pacific. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is $100. Refunds of the original purchase price less shipping and a 10% restocking fee may be requested within 48 hours of delivery. Exchanges within one (1) week of the original date of purchase may be made for an item of equal or greater value at the discretion of Capital Guitars. Where permitted herein, items must be promptly returned at the buyer's expense, in the same condition as received with all accessories and paperwork included. Sale items, purchases that are made via layaway, those involving trades and/or international shipping are considered final except upon an error by and at the discretion of Capital Guitars.
