Capital Guitars is always thrilled to be able to offer instruments built by gifted luthier, Michael DeTemple. Offered here is one of Michael's fabulous T-style guitars, a Spirit Series '52 built in 2007.

The Spirit '52 is Michael's interpretation of the iconic Telecaster. This beautiful guitar has an ultra-light Swamp Ash body finished in butterscotch nitrocellulose lacquer and it has a total weight of just 6 pounds, 15 ounces. The highly flamed Maple neck has a very soft V-shape with depth measurements of .90" at the first fret and .96" at the twelfth fret, a 9.5" radius and a 1.6875" nut made of fossilized ivory. It has a steel plate bridge plate with compensated barrel saddles made of Titanium. It has a standard Tele control setup with volume, tone and a three-way switch with all hardware of the vert highest quality. The pickup switch tip and the string tree are hand carved wood and the tuners are Michael's very nice open-back models.

What makes this incredible guitar even more special are the electronics. DeTemple guitars come with Mike's fine SweetSpot pickups, as does this one. However, this instrument was custom-ordered with the capability to switch-out the neck pickup without re-soldering. The guitar comes with two (2) pickguards and three (3) neck pickups; the first a fancy Italian celluloid guard with a cutout for a Phoenix Firebird-style humbucker or the included Lollar Mini-Humbucker; and a lacquered black phenolic guard with a cutout for the standard SweetSpot Tele-style pickup. This guitar gives you a lot of tonal flexibility!

As a DeTemple, it is no surprise that this guitar plays and sounds as though it were built from a single piece of wood. The feel and playability of this guitar are exemplary. The tone of DeTemple's "Sweetspot" pickups is like that of a vintage Tele, but with an added richness and complexity not found on most any other brand. This guitar goes even further, by allowing the player to switch out the neck pickup for an even "thicker" Tele tone. Please check out the provided sound sample which was recorded with the Lollar Mini-hum in the neck position.

This guitar was ordered in 2004 and delivered to it's original owner in 2007. It is in superb condition save for a scrape on the top where your forearm lays (see photo). The frets are in excellent condition. It comes in it's original DeTemple/G&G case with all the original accessories, two pickguards and two extra neck pickups.

If you are looking for a boutique-quality Tele-style guitar with lots of tone options, you couldn't do much better than this superb DeTemple Spirit '52. Make this beauty yours today!
