Description

Capital Guitars is always thrilled to be able to offer instruments built by gifted luthier, Michael DeTemple. Offered here is one of Michael's fabulous S-style guitars, a Spirit Series '56 built in 2015.

Michael's guitars are too seldom available on the secondary market, particularly examples like this with a Rosewood (Brazilian) fretboard. This fabulous DeTemple '56 was custom-ordered and equipped with the following: an ultra-light swamp ash body (6.8 pounds total guitar weight) finished in pearlescent white nitrocellulose lacquer; a one-piece, nicely flamed maple neck with a soft V-C shape and a depth of .920" at the first fret; a fretboard made of superbly figured Brazilian rosewood with a 10" radius, medium/jumbo frets and a 1.6875" nut made from fossilized mastodon ivory; a titanium tremolo bridge assembly; custom open back tuners; a titanium neck plate; a string tree and switch tip made of fossilized mastodon ivory; DeTemple's custom Italian celluloid pickguard; and for electronics, DeTemple "Sweet Spot" single coils, a five-way switch and VTT.

As a DeTemple, it is no surprise that this guitar plays and sounds as though it were built by a divine being, rather than by a supremely gifted mortal. The tone of DeTemple's "Sweetspot" pickups is like that of a vintage Strat, but with an added richness and complexity not found on any other electric. The feel and playability of this guitar are as exemplary as it's tone.

This guitar has been played little and treated with the utmost care. It is in near mint condition and the frets show little to no wear. It comes with it's original DeTemple G&G case, truss rod tool, and fretboard protector.

This guitar's original cost was approximately $9K and would likely cost even more today. This near mint beauty can be yours for quite a bit less. If you have a spot in your collection for perhaps the ultimate S-style guitar, consider this incredible DeTemple '56. A very special instrument indeed!
