Description

Offered here is D'Pergo Aged Vintage Classic number 0333 which was built as a custom order in 2008. This instrument was ordered with an upgraded, ultra-light, one-piece body made from D'Pergo's exclusive recovered Swamp Ash. It has a total weight of just 6.6 pounds by my scale. It is stunningly finished in two-tone Tobacco Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer. The neck is made from a single piece of quarter-sawn, certified old-growth, water-recovered Maple, a rare and costly upgrade. The neck shape is D'Pergo's Vintage Offset shape, with a depth of .920" at the first fret. This offset profile is carved in a concentric fashion that follows the natural contours of the human hand as it moves up the fingerboard, thereby allowing the player to more easily navigate a larger neck than would be typically comfortable. Its natural shape fits even a small hand like a glove. The fretboard radius is a relatively flat 10" and has been given just a touch of round-off for a played-in feel. The frets are made from custom medium/wide nickel/silver wire with D'Pergo's Vintage Bevel shaping. The 1.650" nut is made from vintage bone and is in of itself, a work of art. The pickups are D'Pergo's hand-wound Aged Limited 50's style single coils which utilize degaussed Alnico V magnets and heavy Formvar copper magnet wire. This guitar was further upgraded with D'Pergo Limited-grade electronics featuring steel potentiometers and custom insulated wire.

Upon playing this guitar you immediately notice the resonance and touch-sensitivity that D'Pergo guitars are known for. Every component has been meticulously hand-shaped and contoured to facilitate your playing comfort and is made in-house by D'Pergo. The fret work will spoil you for most any other instrument and the setup is amazing, with the twelfth fret high E string height of 6/64". This guitar feels and plays like the extraordinary instrument that it is. It seems to make you play better.

As you would expect from an Ash/Maple instrument, the tone is bright and woody, but without any harshness. Lots of "natural" feedback flows from this instrument, with a tight bass response and a warm and balanced top end. The note separation is superb. The D'Pergo AVC model is built to have a vintage tone, but with far more harmonic complexity.

This instrument in near mint cosmetic condition with only very slight evidence of play. The frets show little to no wear. It comes with it's original D'Pergo/G&G hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity and accessories. A superb example of a boutique brand rarely found on the secondary market....
