If you have been looking for a really special Tele-style instrument to come along, this may be the one. Offered is this top of the line D'Pergo Signature Limited Bakersfield Veneer built in 2014.
As a Signature Limited instrument, no expense was spared when building this guitar. Very few of these are built and the very best woods and other materials were used. This beautiful Tele-style instrument has a hand-shaped semi-hollow body made of recovered alder. The neck is carved from single piece of the best recovered, primary-growth maple stock available and the guitar has been given a pre-ban Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The neck carve is Stephan's Vintage Offset V-C shape with a depth of .96" at the first fret increasing to 1.03" at the twelfth, but feels noticeably slimmer due to it's unique shape. It has medium nickel-silver frets and a 1.650" vintage bone nut. The pickups are D'Pergo Limited Alnico III hand-wounds and the premium hardware has a high-grade brushed nickel finish. The bridge is a D'Pergo Vintage RFT forged from the very best vintage steel. It has a hand-shaped, three-ply mint green pickguard . The guitar has a total weight of just 6.4 pounds and is perfectly balanced.
Every single element on this guitar is designed to enhance the guitar's resonance, tone and playability. The neck's silky smooth, dry satin finish is fast playing and sooo luxurious! The Signature-grade medium frets are similarly luxurious and it is obvious that many hours were spent hand-shaping and polishing the fret ends to ensure that there are no sharp edges to hinder your playing. The tone of D'Pergo guitars is always special, but these Limited grade instruments are simply amazing. My simple demo does not do the voice of this guitar proper justice, but check the SoundSample below. These D'Pergo pickups are magic! There is depth and complexity to the voice of this guitar that other Tele-style guitars simply cannot produce.
The owner of this guitar has several D'Pergos and this one was played sparringly and with great care. The only flaws I can find are some minor finish roughness around a couple of the string ferrules (see photo). This minor cosmetic issue aside, this guitar is in 'as new' condition and the frets are flawless. It comes in it's original G&G black tolex case.
I understand that commissioning a new example of this guitar would cost you over $17K along with a substanial wait time. Get this amazing and very rare Signature Limited Bakersfield for thousands less and without the delayed gratification.
There is no denying that D'Pergo guitars are among the very best electrics currently being made. Make this near mint masterpiece yours today. You will be very glad you did!
