Summary: One of the first guitars to be rolled out after Gibson snagged Epiphone, the Coronet snagged a few famous players, like Kurt Cobain and Johnny Marr. Its body shape is pretty unique, but not uncommon for a number of solidbodies released by Epiphone at the time. This particular Coronet is in unbelievable shape, it is all original and comes with its original chipboard case which is also in immaculate condition. It’s incredible how well preserved this guitar is- like it’s been in a time capsule since 1960. Our in house luthier has inspected and strung this guitar up with a new set of ‘10s and it plays and sounds wonderful.

Body: The solid mahogany body is a double cutaway with a translucent red finish and single ply white pickguard.

Neck: It has a nice ‘60s profile neck which feels really comfortable and undisturbed. The rosewood fretboard has 22 frets, pearloid dots, 1 11/16” nut width, 24 1/2” scale length and “bikini” Epiphone plaque on a 3-per-side headstock.

Pickups/Hardware: There is one original dog-ear P-90 in the bridge position, stop bar tailpiece, Kluson Deluxe tuners with white buttons, and volume and tone with black knobs.

Cosmetics: This Epiphone is in immaculate shape with the exception of a few very minor scratches around the output jack, some minor scratches on the back and some pick scratching on the pickguard.

Playability: Our in house luthier has inspected, set up and restrung this beauty with a new set of 10s and it plays fabulously. The action is low, the neck is straight and the whole experience of playing a guitar in such undisturbed shape from 1960 is just surreal.

Weight: 6 lbs 5 oz.

Case: The original chipboard case is in great shape and we will ship it fully packed, padded and insured!
