The Jack Casady Signature Bass was designed by Casady in collaboration with Epiphone, and is the culmination of years of experimentation by the Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna bassist to find an instrument with superb, balanced electric tone and the response of an acoustic bass. Jack put special emphasis on the exclusive JCB-1 low-impedance pickup, which is the secret behind the natural bass tone that high-impedance and active pickups cannot obtain.
This Korean-made bass, created in 2013, is in near-mint condition, with only minor scratches on the back, and an estimated 95% remaining fret life. It's been strung with flatwounds — to the credit of the previous owner, who obviously embraced the fat, bassy bottom end role of his instrument.
Most importantly, this bass has more mojo unplugged than some other basses many times its price. Its neck is fun to get around, and the authority of its thump can be felt in your hands and body even before its impedance-selecting pickup system has a chance to demonstrate its plugged-in versatility.
