Description

Excellent condition featuring 17 3/8" wide body, single rounded cutaway, spruce top, maple back and sides, multiple bound top, two unbound f-holes with pointed corners, single ply white binding on the back edge of the body, elevated bound nitrocellulose tortoiseshell grain pickguard (this is the original pickguard which is deteriorating slightly and curling - see photos), mahogany neck, bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearl notched diamond inlays, bound peghead, pearl Epiphone logo and fat column peghead inlays, single ply white truss rod cover, Epiphone Epsilon logo Sealfast tuners with New York buttons, Brazilian rosewood bridge, Frequensator tailpiece, sunburst finish, and original brown hard shell case.

This is a professional quality archtop guitar well suited for both rhythm and chord melody styles. The sound is exactly what you would like to hear from such a vintage Epiphone - rich tone with good cut. This is a versatile archtop which would also be a good candidate for a floating pickup installation. The guitar shows some minor lacquer checking and several areas of binding on the body edges have been professionally repaired, but the guitar is in exceptional shape for a piece of this age. The receipt for the 1956 sale of this guitar is in the case pocket along with the key for the case.
