Every guitar dealer with a retail shop has an amp referred to as a "closer". That's the amp you have prospective buyers use when trying out a guitar because it sounds great no matter what guitar is plugged into it. It's a matter of taste in large part but the idea is to appeal as many folks as possible. My closer is always a Fender tweed and usually a Bandmaster. They are rare and they are expensive but nothing else sounds like one (Super and Pro are the same amp section and they are close). Part of the distinctive tone is a result of Leo Fender being, shall we say, thrifty. He used a less expensive undersized output transformer to cut costs and as a result, a lot of them got fried. So, finding a Bandmaster with its original OT is not easy. This one has all of its original transformers. It also has its original tweed and original grill cloth. The 1957 P10R speakers have been re-coned and one is not original but it is a vintage P10R from the era. Tubes are RCA (6L6), Amperex (12AX7s) and GE (12AY7 and rectifier). Most of the caps have been changed with high quality replacements. Tone is wonderful-good headroom but smooth breakup at moderate volume. It comes with its original and really ratty Victoria cover. Corner protectors have been installed on the lower corners (easy to remove). Handle is a replacement. It had a later style handle in the past (you can see the shadow of it on the top)
