Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Champ in excellent condition and in good working order. This vintage Class A five watt tube amp is 100% original aside from a three-prong power cable and a couple new capacitors in the preamp, general maintenance for any amp of this vintage. One of the very first transitional Silverface Fender amps, this Champ has the drip edge aluminum trim and thin black vertical lines on the faceplate indicative of an amp that still has an unchanged Blackface circuit under the hood! With most components actually dating to '67, this is a particularly early drip edge amp which sounds every bit as good as the best Blackface Champs. A perfect studio amp, this Champ has clear, dynamic clean tones at low volumes, and sizzling overdrive when you dime it out. It's as simple and pure a circuit as Fender ever made, powered by a single vintage RCA 6V6 tube.

The circuit is clean and original, with stock transformers that both date to '67 and CTS pots that date to the 42nd week of 1966. The preamp features a combination of original brown molded and blue Ajax tone caps, and aside from two new electrolytic caps the circuit is untouched.

The tube chart is clean and intact on the inside of the cabinet, and the original 8" alnico speaker has a clean blue foil Fender label and stock wiring harness. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are in great shape, with only minor surface wear on the faceplate, best seen in the closeup of the "Champ" logo. All of the original hardware is present including the handle, nickel corners, original raised Fender logo, and nail in feet.

This transitional Champ is clean and complete with a Blackface circuit and drip edge Silverface cosmetics!
