Summary: In the late 60s and early 70s, Fender did something very cool with their “student model” Mustang guitar. The Fender Mustang now had 3 slick racing stripes located by the new upper arm contour and features the same Dynamic Vibrato unit and dual single coil pickup configuration that we come to expect from the Mustang. This Fender has the beautiful Competition Red finish, veneer rosewood fingerboard and F stamped tuners and neck plate. The pickups and switches have been changed and there is some finish touch-up work around some finish dents on the back and butt end of the guitar. Overall, this guitar is in good vintage condition and it plays and sounds great thanks to a pro setup by our in house luthier and a new set of 10s. It ships in a nice hard-shell case with whammy bar.

Body: Solid offset contoured Mustang body with competition red finish and 3 cream racing strips. It is topped
off with the original 3 ply pearloid pickguard.

Neck: Maple neck with rosewood veneer fingerboard, pearl dots, bone nut, large headstock, 1.625” nut width and 24” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 changed single coil pickups, 2 changed on/off/on switches, 1 volume, 1 tone, Dynamic Vibrato unit, large barrel saddles, 2 string trees and F stamped tuning keys with white buttons.

Cosmetics: There are some slash marks around the nut, mostly on the rosewood but there are a few that go onto the maple on the bass side of the neck. The front of the guitar looks almost pristine but there are some holes in the finish around the sides and back that someone has attempted to touch up with some color and a bit of buckle rash on the back - overall this guitar is in fine vintage condition.

Playability: Our in-house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots.

Modifications: The switches and pickups have been changed.

Weight: 6 lbs, 15 oz.

Case: This Mustang comes with a non-original hard-shell case and we will ship it professionally packed and fully insured!
