Description
Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Concert in excellent, cosmetically restored condition and in perfect working order. This Concert is a real Pre-CBS gem that would be perfectly at home in a studio, with an extremely original and well maintained circuit. Faithful to the original materials, this Concert features new rough brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth on the original finger-jointed pine cabinet, with a quad of Weber alnico 10" speakers which are tonally reminiscent of the Jensens that came stock in the earliest Concert amps.

The Concert was one of the most powerful Fender amps in the Brownface era, with hefty transformers designed with the same oomph as the Bassman. The clean tones are dynamic, warm, and detailed, and the EQ controls have an extremely wide sweep, making it easy to dial in everything from spanky twang to smooth, hearty textures. The Harmonic Vibrato circuit is also one of the hallmarks of Fender's top-tier Brownface amps, and this complex vibrato circuit utilizes three preamp tubes for a sound that has three-dimensional leslie-like textures that swirl and throb like no other Fender circuit. The vibrato truly is "vibrato," and unlike the volume modulating tremolo circuits seen in other Fender amps, the Harmonic Vibrato signal is truly a pitch shifting effect! Whether you want sparkling clean tones that have enough volume to keep up with a band, or thick, creamy distorted tones, the Concert has you covered.

The circuit is in exceptional condition, with both original transformers and the choke intact, all dating to 1962. The circuit retains the original blue molded Ajax tone caps which are particularly musical sounding and an integral part of the voice of Fender's Brownface and Blackface preamps. Even the stock filter caps are intact and still working as they should after all these years. Aside from a couple new bypass caps in the preamp to keep everything operating within original factory spec, the circuit is essentially untouched, with original CTS and Stackpole pots, cloth wire, and carbon comp resistors. The tubes consist of a pair of Sovtek 6L6 power tubes and a compliment of newer preamp tubes.

Cosmetically, this amp is near mint and recently restored with period-correct rough brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth. The stock tube chart is mostly intact inside the cab, and the stock baffle is present as well. The new quad of Weber speakers are soldered to a new wiring harness, with the flat silver 1/4" jack plug appropriate for Fender's Brownface amps. The original faceplate is also quite clean with stock brown barrel knobs.

With a new quad of speakers, new tubes, and minty cosmetics, this Concert is ready for stage and studio use.
