1966 Fender Coronado II Duane Allman Owned "Suburst"

When you think of electric guitar players who completely altered the way people play the instrument, Duane Allman would be on just about everyone's short list. His unique voice stood out on countless Muscle Shoals recordings during his tenure as a session player before completely defining the "Southern Rock" sound with is own band, The Allman Brothers. His life was cut tragically short but his accomplishments by just age 24 have set the standard for many players who have come since. To own an instrument associated with such a gifted and iconic musician is indeed a unique opportunity. This 1966 Fender Coronado II was in fact part of Duane's arsenal in the late 1960's. He eventually traded it at the Bibb Music Center in Macon, GA for a 1959 Les Paul Jr, but to think that early versions of songs that wound up on the debut release from the Allman Brothers could have been conceived on this guitar is awe inspiring. A later owner installed a Fender "Wide Range" humbucker in the neck position giving this guitar a completely unique tone. A full record of the guitars ownership is accounted for, with full provenance included.
