This is a great example of the Coronado II from the second year the model was manufactured.
A cool design that featured under-rated Dearmond pickups and a floating tremolo that was an upgrade from the base model.
The guitar is in excellent condition. The only change appears to be the high E tuner, based on the hexagonal shape of the tuner button that differs from the others. It isn't a stretch to think this could happen at the factory, but it jumped out so I thought I'd mention it.
Otherwise the guitar is issue and repair free. We were able to get it set up nicely. It didn't play very well when it showed up, but adjustment is available in the truss rod and bridge to dial it in.
The finish is beautiful and the guitar is free of signs of abuse. Included is the original hardshell case, also in excellent condition.
An oft ignored model, the Coronado has been in the hands of:
Johnny Marr: The Coronado II gained significant recognition through its association with Johnny Marr, the guitarist of the influential British band The Smiths. Marr often used a cherry red Fender Coronado II during his time with the band, and it became one of his signature instruments.
Jimi Hendrix: Although Jimi Hendrix is primarily known for his use of Fender Stratocasters, he did occasionally play a Fender Coronado II during live performances. He used a sunburst Coronado II while jamming with Eric Burdon and War in the late 1960s.
Lindsey Buckingham: The Coronado II was also used by Lindsey Buckingham, the guitarist of Fleetwood Mac. He played a natural finish Coronado II during the mid-1970s, which contributed to his unique tone and style within the band.
Alex Turner: Alex Turner, the frontman and guitarist of the Arctic Monkeys, has been seen playing a Coronado II on stage. The guitar complements the band's indie rock sound and adds to Turner's distinctive playing style.
