Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster Hand-Wound Ancho Poblano Stratocaster Pickups Journeyman Relic Black 7.20 lbs
Fender Custom Shop Hand-Wound Ancho Poblano Stratocaster Pickups are a premium set of single-coil pickups designed to deliver a vintage-inspired tone with modern clarity. Crafted with Alnico II magnets, they emulate the warm, chimey character of aged ‘50s Alnico V pickups. This results in a clean, articulate sound with bell-like highs, a touch of midrange scoop, and rich, clipping lows—ideal for players seeking expressive Strat tones.
Each pickup is meticulously hand-wound, utilizing Formvar-coated magnet wire and cloth-covered leads, then shellac-dipped for enhanced durability and tonal consistency. The middle pickup features a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity (RWRP) design to reduce hum in positions 2 and 4. With DC resistance readings of approximately 6.27kΩ for the bridge and 6.0kΩ for both middle and neck pickups, the Ancho Poblano set offers a balanced output suitable for a range of musical styles.
Drawing lineage from Fender’s Ancho Poblano and El Diablo pickups, the Ancho Poblano set provides a unique tonal palette that blends vintage warmth with contemporary clarity. Whether you’re aiming for clean, bell-like tones or slightly overdriven sounds, these pickups offer a versatile and expressive option for Stratocaster enthusiasts.
Vintage Modified Strat #2 wiring with Greasebucket Tone Circuit is a specialized configuration found in select Fender Custom Shop Stratocasters. This setup combines traditional Stratocaster wiring with modern enhancements to offer greater tonal versatility and clarity.
The Greasebucket tone circuit is a specialized tone control designed to cut high frequencies without adding bass when the tone knob is rolled off. It’s a type of band-pass filter, offering a more balanced and usable tone control than a standard low-pass filter. The circuit uses a specific combination of components, including a 4.7K resistor and a 0.022uF capacitor, to achieve this effect.
