Description

I am a huge Tele Thinline fan and I'm always looking for special examples for my inventory. Offered here is a guitar which the Custom Shop calls the "50's Telecaster Thinline" and was built in 2006. The first Fender Thinline wasn't introduced until 1969, so the model name does not make a great deal of sense. That aside, this is one great Tele Thinline.

This guitar has a premium Ash body with no aging (NOS format) and a Vintage Blonde nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The guitar weighs just 6.2 pounds. It has a one-piece U-shaped neck with depth measurements of .89" at the first fret and .98" at the twelfth fret. The fretboard has a 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets and a 1.650" bone nut. The electronics include a Custom Shop Twisted Tele single coil in the neck position, a Custom Shop Hot Nocaster single coil in the bridge position, with volume and tone controls, a three way switch and modern wiring.

I picked this beauty up and was immediately reminded of why I love Tele Thinlines. Besides it's light weight, this guitar is more resonant and lively than your typical Telecaster. The tone is classic Tele "spank" with a touch of additional woodiness. Check out the provided sound sample and hear for yourself. This guitar is a joy to play and the relatively big neck has smaller shoulders than many U-shaped necks I've encountered, making it much more comfortable to play.

Despite it age, this guitar remains in fantastic condition and looks like a much newer instrument. It shows only the lightest evidence of play consisting of a tiny impression on the back, a one inch finish check on the F-hole (see photos) and some light pick wear on the single-ply pickguard. The frets remain in great condition too. It comes in a G&G tweed case which is in very good condition, along with the certificate of authenticity, build sheet and a few of the original accessories.

This is a great looking, playing and sounding Tele Thinline. Make it yours and I can pretty much guarantee you will be very glad you did!
