Summary: The Fender Custom shop makes some of the highest quality guitars to date and this Fender Custom ‘59 Telecaster with new old stock (NOS) sunburst finish and fully bound body is an honest representation of the time they put into recreating these instruments. The neck is their ’59 Large C profile, it is very chunky and the rosewood fingerboard has a 7.25” – 9.5” compound radius making for a vintage feel with modern versatility. It has 2 excellent sounding Custom Shop ’58 Tele pickups and comes with a brown tolex G & G hardshell case with COA and case candy.
Body: The body is 60s style Tele Custom with lacquer sunburst finish, bound top and back and plum colored sides. The pickguard is one ply white parchment.
Neck: ’59 Large C profiled maple neck which starts at 0.850” at the first fret and tapers to 0.990” at the 12th fret. The slab board AAA rosewood fingerboard has a 7.25” - 9.5” compound radius, vintage clay dots, .050” x .085” fretwire and end of heel truss rod adjustment.
Pickups/Hardware: It has 2 superb sounding Fender Custom Shop ’58 Telecaster pickups, fat ‘50s Tele wiring with volume, tone, knurled knobs, Fender vintage style tuning keys, 3 vintage style threaded steel saddles and a bone nut.
Cosmetics: This guitar is only about a year old and hasn’t been played too much. The finish is NOS so there is no relicing but there are a few pick scratches and very light scuffs if you hold it up in the light. The only notable playwear is the evidence of pick scratching over the pickguard, some minor buckle rash and some scratches around the jack plate. There are also a few scratches on the sides and evidence of a guitar strap rubbing against the finish by the back strap button.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out. The fat neck feels extremely comfortable and the guitar resonates like a great vintage guitar would.
