When I see gold, my mind takes me to that place of association. Well, I always think of Fort Knox and invariably if we, as a nation still have gold in the vault. Oh I know, how about Elvis in that famous gold lame' suit designed by tailors Nudie Rodeo at a cost of 10 grand. That was serious cake in the 50's and as a side note (we are informative over here at the 'Elk, you know?), Hank Sr. had all of his clothing designed by them as well. Lastly, I think of just how many gold medals Micheal Phelps has captured in the last few Olympics. I wonder (if only to myself) if, every now and then, he wears one of those while out on a date with his girl? Hell, if it were me, I'd walk into Wal-mart with no shirt on and all 9 of them draped around my neck. Shameless am I, but who cares? The "gold" of this guitar reminds me of these things (I know, I do mushrooms a lot). This is Fender's first Custom Shop piece and did they ever pick a dandy. Only 500 were made with great care by the talented team that was headed by John Page. The guitar you see here is in beyond collector quality condition. Friends, how many times in life do you get an opportunity to posses something that is the very best of? This guitar is just that- the top of the mountain. It comes complete with all the paperwork, case candy and as a bonus, the original shipping box. Oh, and I saw it; I know about the oxidation of the neckplate. Knock off a dollar, 'cause this HLE Strat is the finest one you'll ever see. Besides, you can get that neckplate anywhere. Now you know why the guys at Fender choose gold: they knew oh- too- well that it was psychological. Gold represents the best. Now, let me try and convince my controlling business partner to wear him a gold lame suit just like "The King" had to our next guitar show. That would be a great publicity stunt to let the world know that we think we are worthy of that consideration. Well, if we don't believe in ourselves, then who will? Does anyone have Nudie Rodeo's number?
