Description

From the personal collection of renowned Boston-area guitarist Bobby Keyes, is this very special instrument from the very early years of the Fender Custom Shop. This guitar is commonly known as the Deco Sparkle Stratocaster. Offered here is number 20 of the 25 piece run designed and built by Master Builder Jay Black during the early John Page era of the Custom Shop and featured in the Fender's 1996 photo publication, Fender Custom Shop Guitar Gallery.

The Deco Sparkle Strat was named for it's incredible champagne colored halo-flake finish, which does a cool color shift depending on the lighting and angle from which the guitar is viewed. Not satisfied with an over-the-top finish, Jay also gave this special guitar a highly figured birdseye Maple neck, a Black Ebony fretboard with custom inlays by the artist Tom Ellis, a mix of gold and chrome hardware and lipstick pickup covers. Other specs for this guitar include an Alder body; 1.6875" bone nut; 9.5" fretboard radius; a fast, 60's oval C neck shape; medium/jumbo fret wire; and Texas Special single coil pickups.

This guitar plays like butter and sounds terrific. As a great player, it has seen it's share of play by it's original owner over the past two decades, pro guitarist Bobby Keyes. The gold metal parts show a bit of oxidation, but the body, neck and frets remain in excellent condition. It comes in it's original and well worn G&G case, along with the gold bridge cover, trem arm, the certificate of authenticity, a couple of pages from the Fender publication in which this model appeared and even a sampling of Bobby Keyes CD's!

Get yourself a great playing and sounding guitar and a piece of Fender Custom Shop history with this very cool Strat!
