Description

Offered here is a great Telecaster from the first decade of the Fender Custom Shop, a 50's style Telecaster. Many consider these John Page-era Custom Shop guitars among Fender's finest. Play this guitar and you will quickly realize why these guitars are so desirable.

This instrument has an Ash body (one piece perhaps) with a gorgeous transparent blonde nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It was not aged and would be what was later termed an "NOS" format instrument. The neck is made from a lovely piece of birdseye Maple which has been given a large C-shape with depth measurements of .89" at the first fret, increasing to .95" at the twelfth fret. The fretboard has a 9.5" radius, the frets are 6105's and it has a 1.650" bone nut. It has a contemporary Tele control layout with volume, tone and a three-way switch. I'm not sure what the original pickups are, but the factory bridge pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity. The original bridge single coil is included in the case should you wish to take it back to factory spec. This guitar originally sported a white pickguard (which is included), but a very nice black Bakelite guard is currently installed. It weighs just 7.2 pounds and is perfectly balanced.

These early Custom Shop team-built guitars are really special. This guitar looks, feels and plays like a one-off or a Master Built instrument. It plays like butter and sounds fabulous. Please check out the sound sample provided and I think you will agree!

Despite being built 20 years ago, this guitar shines like it was made yesterday. It is virtually flawless, frets included. It could easily pass for a new instrument, but I will be conservative and call it 'near mint.' It comes in it's original Fender/G&G tweed case, also in near mint condition, along with the certificate of authenticity, the ash tray bridge cover, the original bridge pickup, both pickguards and various other accessories.

This is just a fantastic early Custom Shop Telecaster in virtually flawless condition. Whether you are a collector or a player, it is a guitar that is sure to please. Make it yours today!
