Description

John Cruz is one of, if not the most admired and esteemed Masterbuilders in the Fender Custom Shop's history. His work is impeccable and although he's no longer with the company, his 37- year legacy will most certainly stand the test of time.  Your work at Fender will be missed, John, and we look forward to seeing where you land.

This Mary Kaye Stratocaster is a stunning example of Mr. Cruz's work and after playing it, you may never wish to look for a vintage Strat ever again. It weighs only 6 lbs, 9 oz, mainly due to the beautifully-grained, select Ash body that has been carefully sprayed with a thin, nitrocellulose coat. It has also received the Closet Classic treatment and is accompanied by gold hardware.

The hard rock maple neck is very comfortable in the hands and the custom pickups were hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra, who wound the pickups found in most late-'50s Strats. Yes, she's slightly famous, we imagine and her work too is incredible.

This package includes the original hardshell case and accessories, minus the picture of Mary and the accompanying CD. Our seller tells me that, if he ever finds these missing pieces, he will forward them to us and we'll do likewise to our buyer.

Please feel free to call or email with any questions and as always, thanks for stopping by the land of the Southern Elk!
