Okay, so here's the story. Back in the day, when Fender was developing this guitar for master guitar slinger Robben Ford, they made four prototypes, two of which Robben kept and two that were thrown into the garbage. Someone, probably an enterprising Fender employee did a bit of dumpster diving and pulled out this little gem. Said enterprising Fender employee then sold it to my client via Ebay. There was a bit of damage on the treble side top area and some missing hardware so my client called Geg Fessler who was the original Custom Shop builder who was tasked with building these for Ford. Fessler did all the required repair work and issue a new Fender Custom Shop COA for it and here it stands before you all these years later as what is essentially an original prototype in just about new condition restored by the original builder. And it's just as spectacular as any of the other production Robben Ford Elite FM's out there.
So now a bit of a history lesson on the Robben Ford Models. They were originally based on the Japanese made Espirts. So along comes top guitar meister Robben Ford who wants a custom shop signature model for himself. Enter the batch of four that this was part of. Eventually, after Ford approved the design, four variations were made: the Elite FM (flame Maple top) the Ultra FM (flamed Maple top and internal sound chambers)
and the Ultra SP (sound chambers, Spruce top).
So standing before is a very rare Fender Custom Shop guitar in stupid clean condition with an original Fender COA, AND it's a highly sought after model with very low production total and is one of the best guitars Fender designed and built since the 1960's. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity.
