Description

Offered is this very special Rory Gallagher Stratocaster built by the Custom Shop in 2006. Accurately based on Rory's '61 Strat, the specs of this lightly-played and heavily-aged collector piece include: a very light alder body with a total guitar weight of 7.9 pounds with heavily aged nitro finish; a mid-60's C-shape maple neck with depth measurements of .835" at the 1st fret increasing to .955" at the 12th fret; a lovely dark rosewood fret board with 9.5" radius, medium/jumbo fret wire, a 1.650" nut and clay dots with one mismatched plastic inlay; Custom 60's single coil pickups with VTT controls and five-way switching; aged plastic parts; and mismatched Sperzel tuners.

The aging on this guitar is incredible. Strapping one of these on is like slipping into your favorite pair of well-worn jeans. It plays like a very special old friend and the neck shape is a very nice medium C shape that feels oh so good. The tone is everything that you would expect from a real vintage Stratocaster - fat with lots of overtones and the out-of-phase tones are incredibly faithful to Rory's own sounds.

This guitar hasn't seen much if any play and the frets look like new. It comes with the original brown G&G case, the certificate, the original 3-way switch (Rory swapped out his 3-way for a 5-way too) and what appears to be all of the other case goodies. Dealers get $4,700 for these new, but this barely played example can be yours for far less.

If you have never owned one of these, you have been doing yourself a disservice. Make this lightly played Rory Gallagher Stratocaster yours today. A great Custom Shop Strat indeed!
