This is the guitar that eventually became the Robben Ford model. It features a set-in neck, Fender American Standard tuners, Schaller made Roller nut and stop tailpiece and two Schaller made special designed humbuckers. This guitar was made in Japan as part of the Master Series. This particular guitar has something I have never seen before on a Fender guitar. It has the number "2" stamped on the back of the headstock below the serial number. On other brands this means that the guitar is factory second, usually due to a finish blemish. Who knows what it means on a Fender. At 36 years old this guitar has it's fair share of small dings, dents and scuffs throughout the body. It also had a pick guard mounted on it at one time and the holes have been filled at some point as well. The guitar shows some light fret wear with no effect on playability. The guitar has just received a fresh set of 10 gauge strings and plays well. A new input jack has been installed as well. There is some wear to the Rosewood fingerboard. All electronics are working properly. The guitar weighs 8lbs., 4oz. The guitar ships in the generic hard shell case as shown with some replaced hinges and the back latch is broken. It is good enough for daily use.
