This fantastic 2018 '57 Journeyman Relic delivers a lot of mid-50s feel, tone, and vibe while adding a few modern twists - namely, a roasted quarter-sawn maple neck, 9 1/2" radius, and a hotter hand-wound Poblano set of pickups with a blender control. The "Chocolate" 3-tone sunburst finish looks incredible as well - tons of vibe and the aging is very realistic.

The roasted maple neck not only looks like a well-loved vintage neck, but responds similarly with snappy, lively tones - this is a really loud, clear, and resonant guitar when played acoustically. In keeping with the chunkier carves of the 50s, this is a fatter carve with a subtle V and while a handful to some, it's well-shaped and quite comfortable for players who like larger neck carves (Fender calls it their 10/56 V carve). The modern radius and excellent fretwork deliver a really satisfying, easy to play instrument.

The pickups sound wonderful - a bit hotter than vintage pickups, but with a very similar sound. 50s Strats, to our ears, have a more open, jangly, almost Tele-like tone which is exactly where this guitar lives sonically (vs 60s Strats which have a bit more of a compressed, smooth tone).

Condition: Like new save for some very light fret wear.

Fender is really at the top of their game these days, especially their Custom Shop. What else can we say - this is a killer Strat by any measure! Priced with hardshell case, certificate, and case candy.
