Man oh man, this is one sweet guitar! I have to admit that I've never been a huge fan of offsets, but this Jaguar reissue has totally won me over. Let's start with the finish, because, let's face it, that's what you're going to notice first. To call it "gold sparkle" simply doesn't do it justice, we're talking breathtaking! It's the kind of finish that presents a unified color, yet offers different glimpses of depth and shade depending on your perspective. Now let's get down to business: this baby plays like a dream. Its comfortable "C" shaped neck and rosewood fingerboard make fretting chords and running licks a breeze while the offset body is naturally ergonomic. This particular guitar has been retrofitted with a Mastery bridge and tremolo, which means added resonance and sustain with none of the annoying buzzing that can come with traditional saddle designs, plus non-stop solid and consistent tremolo use. It's also been fitted with a pair of Lollar Jaguar Style pickups. Luthier Jason Lollar is a legend in the guitar world for his outstanding pickup designs, which grace the instruments of artists as diverse as Keith Richards, Jerry Douglas, Bill Frisell, Stevie Wonder and many more. I'm here to tell you that you can believe the hype! Of the Jaguar Style pickups, Jason says,"I have designed these pickups to offer improved bass fidelity and definition in the neck position, and a fuller fatter tone in the bridge position." And how! Plug this guitar into your favorite amp (or practically any amp, I'd say) and you will be amazed at the level of richness, focus, and power at your fingertips. True to its sparkly finish, this Jaguar reissue really is as good as gold!
