Description

"The Jaguar, Fender’s newest addition to their line of Fine Electric Instruments, presents a new and exciting concept in the field of solid-body guitars. The neck of the Jaguar is a short 24” scale containing 22 frets … A new Fender First in the Jaguar is the Fender Mute… Other features of the Jaguar are; newly designed wide-range pickups, on-off pickup switches with controls making possible six different tone selections plus standard tone and volume controls, rhythm circuit, Fender 'Floating Tremolo', 'Off-set' waist design, and adjustable neck truss rod. The new Jaguar is unhesitatingly recommended to those desiring complete instrument versatility."

This 1963 Fender Jaguar serial number 99999, (really!) is in very good condition. The neck and frets are fine, (a pro-refret had been performed prior to our acquiring the guitar) all controls are fully functional. A very attractive pro-level refinish in Lake Placid Blue looks great on this instrument. This Jag is currently outfitted with a Mastery bridge which ups the performance tremendously. The original bridge is included. There is a crack in the pickguard by the slider switches and the mute is missing. The tuners have been replaced with the later 1960s/1970s style. Quite a bad ass playing Jaguar.

Construction features include an alder body, bolt-on maple neck (date stamp 1 FEB 63) with veneer rosewood fingerboard, clay dot inlays, 3-ply off white pick guard, 2 single coil pickups, and those cool Jag controls for chord and solo settings.

Though never as popular as the Strat, the Jaguar was the Fender flagship instrument in the '60s and gained a cult following in the 1990s when Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers embraced the instrument.

This guitar is a “player” it is ready for action right now. If the thought of owning a “Jag” has crossed your mind, consider this one!

Original hard shell case included.

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
***This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
***It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
