Description

This is a right handed Fender Jaguar in an original custom color Dakota Red, which is the rarest of the Fender Red finishes available in 1965.
The hierarchy of Red finishes offered by Fender in terms of rarity was Candy Apple(the most common custom color overall), followed by the intermediate Fiesta Red, and the rarest – Dakota Red.

The guitar is in VG+ condition, with a fair amount of finish checking, nicks, and some buckle rash on the back. The chrome finish on the hardware is in worn, but nice condition. The pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Includes a DARK Brazilian Rosewood fretboard.

This is a Jaguar from the transitional period for Fender. It has a neck dated from late 1964 / 1DEC64B, along with pots dated 137 6519, and a white pickguard.

Of particular note on this guitar: The playing area of the back of the neck has had the finish sanded off, so if you want a “fast neck,” this is it.
The guitar is missing the original trem arm and mute assembly. I bought a new and correct Allparts trem arm for it. The Jaguar has an added buzz stop roller, which is a great addition, but it can be removed easily with no changes to the guitar. The guitar comes with the OHSC.

The guitar has been inspected and perfectly set up by Scott Freilich of Top Shelf Music. This Jaguar plays and sounds great! It has a very nice vintage look and vibe – not a Mint example, but a very cool Custom Color Jag you’re not afraid to pick up and play!
