2002 Fender Japan HJG-66KC IV Ikebe Limited Kurt Cobain Signature Jaguar, CIJ, Limited, Offset
Presenting a rare and completely stock Fender Japan HJG-66KC IV Ikebe Limited Kurt Cobain Signature Jaguar in an elegant 3-Tone Sunburst, boasting a vintage tine maple neck paired with a dark, dense Indian rosewood fretboard. Included is the originally supplied Fender branded gig bag.
For those unfamiliar, Japanese-made Fenders are truly stunning guitars, and this Jag is no exception. The fit and finish exemplify the quality one would expect from a Japanese instrument, rivalling, if not surpassing, its USA-built counterparts.
These Jaguars are extremely hard to source, and the rarest version of Kurt Cobain’s iconic Jaguar. Manufactured in Japan in collaboration with Ikebe Music, they were sold in exceedingly small quantities and were available only in Japan, as three “degrees of Cobain”—the IV, V, and VI. The IV model, seen here, has the Jaguar's traditional control layout governing the Dimarzio humbucker pair. The DP103 36th Anniversary PAF in the neck position has a traditional Gibson-style tonal range with excellent dynamics and articulation, handling gain well for a harmonic-rich, powerful sound. The DP100 Super Distortion in the bridge position is Dimarzio's iconic high powered humbucker, designed to kick your amp into overdrive and perfectly tailored to Nirvana's ripping drive.
In terms of condition, our Jaguar displays a well-maintained exterior, providing clear evidence that it has been cherished and looked after over the years. While there are a few surface marks and occasional dents on the body, these have been carefully photographed for your reference, so please examine them closely. The neck and fretboard both present a clean appearance, offering a smooth and uninterrupted feel, and all frets still have plenty of life left in them. The original chrome and nickel hardware exhibits minor tarnishing, and the stock electronics operate flawlessly and seamlessly. This one weighs in at 8.37lbs.
It’s been expertly cleaned and setup by Ben of Beej Guitar Repairs with a fresh set of 10-46 strings
