Neck date is May 1965.
The nut has a small amount of the same paint as on the back of the neck, and the frets show no signs of having been pulled out, so we assume that it is most likely original.
The condition of the neck is so good that you can't help but groan, and it can be used as is with no loss of playability unless the string height is extremely low.
The body has some retouching, but there are no signs of fading, and you can feel the previous owner's passion for this bass just by looking at it.
The neck and body vibrate in a way that cannot be experienced just by displaying it, and the bass responds to the player's picking.
The date on the pickups is a little faded and the letters on the front 65 can be seen.
The rear pickups date are missing. The original coils have not been rewound, and there is nothing unnatural about the solder, so they are marked as original.
The front PU and master tone pots have been changed.
The condenser is what is called "Red Dime" and seems to be from that time.
The octave adjustment springs for the first and second strings have been replaced, but we feel that this was done to maintain playability.
The solid low end and crisp percussive treble are a unique vintage sound that cannot be experienced with current instruments.
This is a top quality instrument that will satisfy you both as a collection and as a main instrument.
