Summary: Released in 1960, the upscale Jazz Bass quickly found favor among working bassists thanks to its premium appointments and versatile sound. The narrower neck seemed tailor-made for fast, dexterous playing, while the pair of single-coil pickups added a bold new dimension to Fender bass tone. The American Original ‘60s Jazz Bass has all the tone and style of its earliest incarnation, with modern playability.

Body: Alder with a 3-tone Sunburst lacquer finish.

Neck: Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard, 34” scale length, 1.48” nut width, 9.5” radius, 20 vintage tall frets, ‘60s “C” shape.

Pickups/Hardware: Two Pure Vintage '64 Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups, Controls: Volume 1. (Middle Pickup), Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup), Master Tone, 4-Saddle bridge with Vintage-Style with Threaded Steel Saddles, Pure Vintage Reverse Open-Gear tuning keys, 4-Ply Brown Shell pickguard.

Cosmetics: This bass has light surface scratches throughout. The pickguard has light scratches from regular wear. There is a chip in the finish that goes down to the wood on the bottom horn (See Photos Please). There are a few other deeper scuffs on the body. The chrome control cover has a few light surface scratches. The back of the neck has a few light scuffs (Photos). Overall, this bass is in good shape, the neck is straight, and it plays very well.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
