Description
Leo Fender’s Jazzmaster model has gathered a cult following as a result of its unique offset styling, proprietary pickups/electronics, and smooth action tremolo tailpiece. Jazzmaster pickups are unique in that the coils are only 1/8″ high but extend out to the edge of the almost inch wide bobbin. Fender’s custom color chart wasn’t introduced until July of 1961 (FENDER: The Golden Age; Kelly, Foster, Kelly) however the January 1960 Fender price list offered the Jazzmaster guitar Sunburst Finish at $349.50 and the Jazzmaster guitar Blond Finish at $366.97.

This late 1960 Fender Jazzmaster (7lbs 11oz) in rare Blond Finish with Ash body has just come out of retirement. We observed the penciled neck date of 12/60 on the neck heel, potentiometer codes indicating the 43rd week of 1960, and the serial number 57127. All parts are original to the guitar except for the strings and it exhibits no signs of any prior repairs or modifications. The finish is clean and free of blemishes apart from a bit of edge wear from the case. Our cleaning and setup consisted of a wipe down with a dry cloth, fretboard conditioning, and bridge adjustment for proper action with .10 gauge strings with an unwound third. All electronics are original, solder joints untouched, and in proper working condition. We opted to leave the original foam under the pickups since it was still pliable enough to adjust the pickup heights.

We’re pleased to offer this 1960 Fender Jazzmaster in rare Blond Finish over Ash body back to the market for the first time since it was sold new. We’re confident you’ll love it as much as we do.
