What a great Jazzmaster! No foolin'. Perfect amount of wear to look cool but not so beat that it's worn out. In fact, the frets are great. Let's talk about these frets. '66 was a transitional year at Fender and wacky things were happening, like installing wide frets. That's what this has, and it plays better than most old Jazzmasters because of it. They're not super tall, but they're wide. Similar to what came on Gibsons in the '70s. They MAY have been leveled and crowned at some point. The lack of wear is not consistent with the rest of the guitar. It truly plays great. Low action, easy bending. The whole guitar is as appealing as the frets. All electronics work as they should. The whammy bar arm has been "customized" to put it mildly, but it works fine. '66 was also the year of the thicker headstock. This one has that. If that doesn't impove resonance, you can't tell it from here. This one is more resonant than almost every Jazzmaster we get. This one is, as we say in the biz, "A Real Doozey". Very very loveable. It's even less "plinky" than most Jazzmasters. If you're looking for one of these, we could not recommend one higher. It's ready for the gig. Get your surf on immediately. Your grunge band is good to go. Or, do something so few have ever done, and take it straight to a jazz gig. Even has its original case to take it to the gig in...
