This righteous 1972 Fender Jazzmaster is in good vintage cosmetic condition showing significant signs of play wear throughout (see photos). This guitar has a really great feeling chunky neck shape that is quite a bit larger than most of the 60s models. The finish for the most part has been played off of the back of the neck making this Jazzmaster feel like an old friend. This guitar has been refretted with medium jumbo fret wire - This was done before arriving at our shop. Since its arrival, we’ve had the guitar professionally set up, the frets leveled and a new bone nut made for it. This instrument plays incredible up and down the fingerboard with low action and fantastic intonation. This guitar is set up with a Mastery bridge which, in my opinion, works indefinitely better than the original (but the original bridge is included). There are also two tiny holes drilled into the tailpiece plate (see photos) which do not affect the functionality of the tailpiece in any way. The electronics are in perfect working order, including the Jazz Circuit. The tone pot dates to late 1971 and the volume pot dates to 1968. The neck pickup is a Fender replacement. The original neck pickup is included but needs to be rewound. The bridge pickup is original. Both pickups sound fantastic in this guitar and really to my ears offer a bit of a fatter tone than I’m used to from these offset guitars. This guitar excels with a clean amp, especially if it’s soaked in reverb, but it also sounds tremendous for overdriven sounds. These early 70s Jazzmasters do not pop up for sale all that often and this one is hands down the coolest one that I’ve come across.
