Summary: The Fender Custom Shop 1963 Journeyman Relic Telecaster Custom solidbody electric guitar delivers authentic visuals in a highly playable instrument. It was in the early '60s that Telecasters were first adorned with a rosewood fretboard, and this '63 Relic Telecaster gives you the twang, bite, and vibe of the original. This axe sports sought-after vintage appointments including a comfortable 9.5" radius, 6105 frets, and a '63 "C" neck shape. Topped off with a pair of powerful-sounding single-coil Twisted Tele pickups, the Fender Custom Shop 1963 Journeyman Relic Telecaster Custom is a must-have guitar.

Body: The body is double bound lightweight alder with a fantastic reliced lacquer burgundy mist finish and a 3 ply w/b/w pickguard.

Neck: The Fender 1963 C profile on the maple neck is outstanding. The rosewood fretboard has a 9.5” radius, true to vintage specs. It also has 21 frets, vintage clay dots, 25 ½” scale length and the back of the neck has been sanded down giving the instrument a very nice authentic vintage feel.

Pickups/Hardware: One thing that'll be clear from the first time you plug in is that this Relic packs more punch than a standard Tele. That's because the 1963 Journeyman Relic Telecaster Custom comes loaded with a pair of Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickups. These unique pickups borrow the taller Alnico V magnets from Fender's Jazz Bass pickups, providing the added bobbin space for thicker gauge wire for a hotter, brighter, and punchier sound that's almost Strat-like. And for a smoother sound, the onboard Grease-bucket tone circuit lets you roll off high end without killing your clarity or gain. The neck has a bone nut and vintage Fender logo tuners, the bridge is a 58/63 bridge with threaded saddles.

Cosmetics: This Tele has been kept in fantastic condition and has no fret wear. As you can imagine, a true 1963 Tele would show signs of wear and tear, and this Fender Custom Shop 1963 Journeyman Relic Telecaster Custom solid-body electric guitar is finished to represent those years of playing. The worn finish on the bound body and neck gives the appearance and feel of a guitar that has been loved and played, but also well taken care of. And the guitar's hardware features Fender's Closet Classic relic job for a clean and newer look.

Playability: This telecaster is one of the best playing guitars in the shop at the moment. The action has been set up low by our in house luthier and restrung with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight and the tall, smooth frets make for easy bending.
