Offered for sale;

2016 Fender Ltd 1960’s Stratocaster Relic serial number CZ526073. This guitar is in “nearly new” condition.

The story fender is trying to write here with this reissue is that of an early 1965 (large script logo, mint green knobs) Strat born 3 tone sunburst.
In this story some say it’s possible that the guitar was born with neck binding, like a few Strats of the era. No one knows for sure, but the binding goes up to meet the sides of the frets. Since it was “refretted” with jumbo frets the original binding could not really do that. So maybe the last “refret” included a binding job.

Okay, so now, as the story unfolds, this ’65 sunburst Strat was gigged endlessly, to the point that the “original” finish was worn considerably. So the “owner” did a dumb thing. He or she “refinished” it in Lake Placid Blue. Nice “refin” but it did devalue the guitar a bit. Right? He or she didn’t care. He or she just loves LPB and besides, they’re never gonna sell it.

Then with the new “finish” the guitar was gigged even more, wearing down the Lake Placid Blue to expose evidence of the “original” sunburst.

Also, over the years a 5 way switch was installed. Of course with all that gigging he or she wore out the “original” case. So a nice new G&G is there to protect.

We here at Imperial Guitar are an eccentric group that periodically ponder and postulate potential “untold stories” about instruments

All fiction aside this is a very cool, very rare and very playable Strat.”

The Fender Custom Shop Ltd 1960’s Stratocaster Relic, also known as “BND NK” or “Bound Neck”, is marvelous in terms of looks and vintage accuracy alike. It holds up very nicely to Our Founder’s original 1965 Strat.
Featuring several authentic ‘60s appointments, this Strat looks like a true original from that era, complete with vintage-style hardware, a lake placid blue over three tone sunburst finish, and a parchment bound neck to give it an aesthetic that truly stands out from the rest. Its heavy relic job furthers its classic aura, with scratches, scuffs, dings, and chips throughout.

Sonically, three hand wound Fat ‘60s Single-Coils yield all of the clean Fender sparkle that made the original famous, with capability for a slightly meatier tone if desired.

Other features such as a Limited Edition engraved neck plate, vintage white/parchment hardware, and mother of pearl dot inlays add a little extra visual flair to an already-stunning piece.

If you’re looking for a wholly unique Fender with an unmistakable vintage vibe, then this Custom Shop “Relic” Strat is the one for you.

According to the Certificate of Authenticity the guitar was actually born January 2016. Although in brand new condition, you don’t have to worry about putting a ding in this minor masterpiece.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
