Nice example of pre-CBS Fender craftsmanship at an affordable price.

100% original. Nicely figured pre-CBS Brazilian slab fretboard with clay dots. Frets are in great shape. All original hardware, electronics and pickguard..Pickguard shield still has original tape with a nice “Pilar” signature on the underside. Knobs have correct single slot screws, and hardware screws show no signs of abuse or hogging out. The neck has a nice full round feel to it, given that these are smaller necks to begin with, and a 2-62 date.

The body has a fair amount of finish checking on the front, and also on the back, where the checking is finer. You can see the two router plugs trying to poke their heads out of the finish on the back. Back plate is in fantastic shape. The amount of checking, along with finish dings, bumps and bruises puts this one in the “very good’ as opposed to “excellent” category.

Case is from a 1980’s Fender Lead II and is good quality.

Sunburst finish is blended more than some of the photos make it look.

Edge wear at the tail indicates that at one point this may have been exposed to moisture, which can make finish flake and check in an unstable way. All the finish at the edge is solid and stable at this point in time, and there will be no further finish flaking from here on out…… The last thing you want is a seller who does not disclose it, or calls it “checking” or some other nonsense. On this guitar, it is what it is, and it’s all done doing what it was doing, which is good, & what you want.
