This guitar shows some true character and has great feel as a result. I think it must have been hanging up somewhere for quite a while to get the finish coloration and neck finish checking. I'd say it was due to a lot of play, but the original frets are in really good shape.
The finish on the neck has checked to the degree that it is missing in places on the headstock while leaving the logo intact.
The same condition has brought a great feel to the back of the neck. It feels like a 50s Strat or Tele - sublime!
The guitar is all original with the exception of the missing trem arm and bridge cover. It comes in a 70's case.
A potential customer recently asked about the frets: "What percentage of the frets would you say are left".
"I answered:
the frets have been milled and show some light pitting up to about the 5th fret. I’d say there’s one more fret mill left in the frets before it would need a refret. I’d be hard pressed to give a percentage, not knowing if they’re are a certain percentage of the height of when they were original, or if they’ve got some percentage of their expected life left. You know what I mean? Hard to state it that way. The frets however are low but playable, we polished them and made sure nothing is fretting out. Depending on how much you play and how you play, I’d say it has up to years of play left in it before it needs a refret. Hope that helps!!!"
