1978 Fender Mustang Translucent Red

This 1978 Fender Mustang is in good condition. This guitar shows signs of extensive play wear and age throughout (see photos). This guitar has been played to death and is 100% original. This instrument features a nicely figured ash body with an absolutely battered Translucent Red finish. The particular Mustang has one of the most amazing feeling necks that we have come across in quite a while. This neck is has a chunky U shaped profile that fits the hand just right and has a super comfy “lived in” feel. The rosewood fingerboard is dark and nicely figured. The original frets have been dressed probably more than once and are on the medium to low side. These frets do have plenty of life in them and we just gave this Mustang a pro set up so it plays tremendous up and down the fingerboard with low smooth action and great intonation. This guitar does not fret out or buzz - it's a great player! The electronics are all original and have not been tampered with. We cleaned the potentiometers and sliding switches to get rid of any static and they are working perfectly. Both original pickups sound exceptional and deliver some very punchy articulate tones. This instrument sounds incredible with a clean reverb drenched Fender amplifier, especially in the neck position, but it also excels for raunchy overdriven tones and absolutely rips through a cranked Vox or Marshall circuit. This guitar has a crazy vibe and it just begs you to play it. It is by far the coolest 1970s Fender Mustang that we have ever run across and by the looks of this thing its previous owner thought so, too. This guitar weighs 8lb 4oz and is housed in an equally battered Fender molded plastic hardshell case.
