1959 Fender Precision Bass. This beautiful instrument is 100% original. Everything on the bass is as it was in 1959, save for some good earned wear.
Certainly one of the best sounding, best playing, and best looking, Slab Precisions we have ever seen. This is an original 3 tone Sunburst, faded to a Two Tone Sundburst, as the red tended to fade out of the early '58-'59 Three Tones.
The only flaw on the bass is that a small piece of both horns have broken off of the well shrunken pick guard. One horn has the original piece glued back on.
The serial number is 38XXX. The bass weighs 8 lb. 9 oz. Neck measures .800" at 1st fret and .989" at 12th fret, so not as thin as some of the necks from this period. Body dates to 9/59. No neck date as is normal for '59 Fenders. Pots are coded 137 847. Original pickup measures a perfect and healthy 10.8K Ohms.
Looks like this bass has always had flat wounds as the original frets show little wear. The original headstock finish and decal are pristine, while the back of the neck is nicely worn in. Beautiful, perfectly straight neck on this instrument with no issues.
If you've been looking for an all original, Slab neck P Bass, that looks, sounds, and plays the bomb, this is your chance!
The bass ships in a newer, Fender Black Tolex case as pictured.
